Use a long skinny hoop if possible.
If not, it’s ok. You can still hoop it in a round hoop.
Use a 75/11 sharp or an 80/12 sharp to puncture through the strap. If black backing is available for darker straps, use that. We didn’t have any for this post.
It’s important to pin the strap to the backing or it will pucker.
Be sure the backing 100% covers the hoop.

If your machine allows it, drop the needle to check your center. If an item is thick the center will appear different.
We used an edge walk underlay & a double zig zag with a tighter density for great coverage on this thick strap.
You can see the underlay almost completely covers the area before the satin stitch starts.
The finished product has great coverage & it is centered.
On the bottom strap in this image, the strap was not pinned down & the underlay was not adjusted.
